What is the 2020 Mayday Impact Award PitchFest?

The Mayday Impact Award PitchFest was established for the express purpose to encourage and accelerate innovations that better the world so that future generations can flourish on “Spaceship Earth.” We know that profound possibilities are possible when we all join forces together!

About the creators of the Mayday Impact Award PitchFest:

The Mayday Impact Award PitchFest was developed by two innovative trailblazers: Jannicke Mikkelsen FNF -New-Tech Film Director, World Record Holder and Co-founder of the Mayday Impact Award and Molly Lavik, Co-founder, #AIShowBiz, LLC and Mayday Impact Award.

 

Mayday Impact Award PitchFest Winner will Receive:

 

  • Opportunity to receive $100,000 investment by Expert DOJO, the largest international accelerator in Southern California. This investment is contingent upon successful negotiation of terms between Expert DOJO and the Mayday Impact Award PitchFest recipient.

 

  • Inaugural Induction into the Mayday Impact Award PitchFest Hall of Fame.

 

  • Global Marketing Campaign promoting trailblazer’s innovation
     

  • Top Billing on the Outer Space Declaration

Round One: Essay Application

Trailblazer innovators submit a 500-word pitch essay written in English to enter the competition by April 15, 2020.  The 500-word pitch essay must include:

 

Name and description of Tech for GOOD:

Why Behind the Tech for GOOD:

 

Role of Trailblazer Company in initiating the creation of the innovation:

 

Description of how the Tech for Good will be used to preserve the planet for future generations:

 

Examples of Tech for Good:

There are a broad range of innovations that can make this world better. We leave it up to each applicant to submit their products/services they have created that can be used as a force for GOOD! Here are some examples:

 

  • Reducing Carbon Emissions 

  • Mitigating pollution

  • Improving waste management

  • Extending product life cycle and natural resources

  • Creating technologies for the betterment of the world

  • Inventing #AIforGOOD and/or #EmergingTechforGOOD

  • Developing educational tools to make the world better

  • Ensuring a sustainable supply-chain

  • Preserving food/water supplies

  • Protecting species and/or animal rights

  • Sharing the insights/expertise of innovators to benefit all

  • Introducing fact-based media that is trustworthy

 

We want to encourage you to submit your bold visionary innovations. Break boundaries and make what matters!

Please provide any data, metrics and or URL addresses that underscore the validity in the criteria description. URL addresses featuring images/sketches/depictions of the technology are encouraged.

 

Criteria for Points Awarded by Round 1 Judges:

The Mayday Impact Award PitchFest will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • The trailblazer’s innovation must be known as groundbreaking, innovative and contain historical significance for making the world better.

  • The trailblazer’s achievements must be acknowledged by the general public as well as by experts/innovators and technological scholars, critics and peers.

  • The trailblazer must also serve as a role model who has inspired other innovators.

  • The trailblazer is expected to have an emerging technology innovation that demonstrates it could have a positive impact on society and ultimately preserve the planet for future generations.

 

In addition to meeting the criteria above, the finalists moving on to Round 2 must have an executive of the trailblazer company and/or the creator(s) of the innovation attend online Round 2 on May 5th between 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. PDT and attend online for Round 3 on May 6 from 6:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. PDT and be available if selected as the recipient to accept online the award.

 

The Mayday Impact Award PitchFest recipient must also have an executive (or the creator(s) of the innovation) available to give a brief inspirational talk during the online award ceremony on May 6th at 7:00 p.m. PDT.

 

What is the judging process for Round 1 for selecting the Mayday Impact Award PitchFest?
A prestigious panel of innovators and humanitarians have been assembled to judge the applications. Each judge has up to 500 points to award per written pitch essay submission based on the criteria set forth above.

 

0-100 points: Sub-standard

101-200: Below Average

201-300: Average

301-400: Good

401-500: Outstanding

 

The applicants with the 10 highest number of points will be announced as the finalists for the 2020 Mayday Impact Award PitchFest and move on to round two.

 

Announcement of Finalists for Round 2:

The 10 finalists moving on to Round 2 will be notified on April 20, 2020.

Round two of the 2020 Mayday Impact Award PitchFest is online on May 5, 2020 from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. PDT.

 

 

Round 2: Pitch

Live online presentations from the Round One Top Ten Finalists:

Finalist must prepare a 3-minute pitch presentation with the following information highlighted:

  • 30-second description of the innovation technology

  • Why your innovation can be used as a Force for GOOD!

  • Description of the technological innovation: including the innovative scope and intellectual property assets associated with the innovation

  • Describe the potential social impact of how the innovation can be used as a platform for change. This could be measured through the following metrics:
    (a) Who is the end user of the product and what societal impact does the innovation have on them?
    (b) How does the applicant intend to measure impact?
    (c) Who does the applicant see as possible partners in furthering the social impact?
    (d) Describe a Tech for GOOD element.

  • What resources do you seek, what is the value of the resources you seek, and how will you allocate these resources: Funding? Sponsors? Strategic Alliance Partners? Advisors? Banking Services?

Each of the 5 above bullet points will receive up to 500 points by the judging panel for:

0-100 points: Sub-standard

101-200: Below Average

201-300: Average

301-400: Good

401-500: Outstanding

Optional: You may show online up to 5 slides in a PDF to highlight your presentation. We are not responsible for your slides working online so be prepared to give your presentation without slides just in case that becomes necessary. 

Announcement for Finalists for Round 3:

The top 3 Mayday Impact Award PitchFest pitches that receive the highest Round Two total will advance to Round 3. The announcement of who are the top 3 finalists will be emailed May 5, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. PDT.

 

Round 3: Final Pitch

Round Three will take place online on May 6th between 6:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. PDT.

The Judges will give 50 points to the pitch they feel is most likely to create the highest amount of societal value as a force for Good!

The Mayday Impact Award PitchFest will be awarded online at 7:00 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, May 6th.

In the event of a tie during the Mayday Impact Award PitchFest the Tabulator will serve as the tie breaker, selecting the winner between the 2 finalists.

Bonus Points Are Available!
We believe and have received feedback that the #AIShowBiz Summit 4.0 trailblazer talks and panels have a high educational value as well as great opportunities to help demonstrate how innovation can be utilized as a force for GOOD. Because of this, if you arrive online on  May 5th by 9:00 a.m. PDT and are present throughout the sessions leading up to Round Two on May 5th at 4:00 p.m. PDT, you will receive 25 bonus points toward your live presentation pitch. To receive the bonus points check in with Molly Lavik on May 5th on Zoom.

Please note: A disinterested third-party tabulator, the Sustainable Law Group, is in charge of officiating and calculating the entries, and if required will be the tie breaker.

 

What is the cost associated with applying?

In order to ensure the validity and credibility of each applicant a one-time $75 US Dollar fee is required at time of application.

 

Context of the Award:

The Inaugural 2020 Mayday Impact Award PitchFest has been created to fulfill the higher purpose of the #AIShowBiz Summit 4.0 which is to leverage businesses as a platform for  GOOD and to preserve the planet for future generations.
